Berryville, AR  (8/19/21) –Carroll County was awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $198,265.00 from Arkansas Economic Development Commission through the agency’s General Assistance grant program in 2020.  NWAEDD provided application assistance and grant administration services to the county.   Grant funds were used to construct a drive-through vaccine/ testing site and other renovations to improve the Carroll County Health Unit.

Carroll County Judge, Sam Barr, and the Carroll County Quorum Court played a vital role in understanding the needs of the community and providing the necessary support to make this project possible.  The long-awaited construction project was completed in the summer of 2021.  The Carroll County Health Unit hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the construction on August 4, 2021.  Several organizations and individuals involved attended the event to see the upgrades including the Greater Berryville Area Chamber of Commerce, AEDC Grants Manager, Brenda Rowell, NWAEDD Grant Administrator, Catherine Baker, DeMX Architecture, Milestone Construction, Carroll County Health Unit Administrator, Lisa Holt, and many of the Arkansas Department of Health employees.  NWAEDD is thrilled to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Carroll County in this effort that will have lasting impacts for the community they serve.
