Through a coordinated effort with NWAEDD four Northwest Arkansas communities were awarded approximately $2.4 million in grants from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission through the agency’s General Assistance grant program. Our winning project proposals include:
1.) Carroll County – $198,265 for constructing a drive-through vaccine and testing site at the Carroll County Health Unit
2.) City of Mountain Home – $200,000 for renovating a building in downtown to house the Grandma’s House Children’s Advocacy Center satellite clinic which is a service to offer counseling and provide forensics to law enforcement in child sexual abuse cases
3.) City of Briarcliff – $1,000,000 for a new municipal water line that will help to add approximately 110 new users
4.) City of Flippin – $1,000,000 for rehabilitation of the wastewater system to better support their residents and local manufacturers
NWAEDD will serve as the grant administrator on behalf of the grantees. Administration of these grants includes financial management, construction oversight to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, environmental review and compliance, and other reporting and compliance duties. NWAEDD is proud to work with these communities and are looking forward to seeing the completions of these projects in the future.
